This is POINT BLANK’s second demo, entitled “Execution” and first judging by the band’s bio that came along with the promo copy, I wasn’t too surprised to hear an old school- influenced death/thrash metal with a “hint” of Swedish death and old- Sepultura vocal style growling. The band was formed back in 2005 and after a great amount of line-up changes got to record the first demo “Gatling Gun Manifest” in 2007.
“Execution” is a four track demo -with musical references to Slayer,Vader, Sepultura e.t.c(not at their best I have to admit).- that did not exactly blow my head off, at least as far as the synthesis concerned or maybe the lack of originality and the old-school “wanna be” urge of POINT BLANK! The production is satisfying for a demo while the second-clash musical themes, along with the outmoded male vocal growling don’t seem to help the band to take a step further… There’s a strong need for improvement that has to be done, especially in the inspiration area, for POINT BLANK, if the act wants to see this project surviving the hectic burst of today’s metal scene!
